Ways the Broncos and the 'play-dough' QB can halt that Kansas City Chiefs' rule.

NFL 2025 season: Week six
Real-time updates features text commentary of Sunday's games on various channels, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Also, radio commentary is available through designated networks for a separate game (from 21:00 BST).
It's week six of the football calendar , after last week's discussion regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both surrendered their perfect starts.
Notable during those contests was the number of infractions each conceded. Philadelphia did so at crucial times meaning they essentially beat themselves having led 17-3 going into the fourth period versus Denver, set to play in London this weekend.
However it was good to observe that Denver quarterback Bo Nix was able to overcome the shortfall and then direct three scoring drives on three possessions in the fourth quarter, securing the game by four points.
The Broncos have the defensive player of the year in cornerback Pat Surtain II. They are first in goal-line defense, while Philadelphia lead the league in scoring near the end zone, yet the Broncos won that contest.
They executed effective strategies in terms of simulated pressure. They weren't always rushing extra pass rushers instead they might plug two linebackers in the 'A' gap then drop them out and send a slot defender off the edge.
Early on of the season, we said during a show how Denver might emerge as the current year's dark horses. They finished last season well then did a good job in continuing that momentum.
Are the Denver Broncos this season's dark horses?
Recently acquired tight end their tight end has stepped up significantly and new running back JK Dobbins is a guy the team trusts. He's currently fifth in the NFL for rushing yards (402) and tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).
I love that head coach the Broncos' leader displays "RUN IT!" prominently on his call sheet.
That shows how the Broncos represent a squad aiming to run first, since you can achieve much based on that approach. It reduces opposing rushes and maintains in favourable down and distances.
It's also benefited QB the young passer, who entered into the league as the 12th overall draft pick last year, throwing 29 TDs – second only to Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert have powerful arms to throw anywhere, however they don't move in the same way that Nix has. He has incredible arm talent, a unique trait, plus he is highly agile.
His assets are his mobility, the capacity to pass on the run, as well as finding different arm angles to deliver the pass as he moves outside protection, on rollouts. He can throw precision throws over the middle or over the corner.
For a young quarterback, aged 25, he's got a lot of poise in the pocket and isn't bothered by the blitz. He aims to avoid being tackled whenever possible and is able pass under pressure. He has a high football IQ and is very decisive.
If you consistently run the ball it eats up the clock and forces the defence to stay in play extended periods, and if you have an athletic quarterback the defence must defend the area downfield and horizontally. It can be draining.
Nix has pushed back with the coach during games sometimes and I think Payton likes that fire, seeing him as a fierce rival. In my view it's exciting for him to have a young quarterback that is kind of like play-dough. The coach can really build something up how he desires to shape him. I believe it's a special experience for him.
The head coach owns a Super Bowl and now passed a legend in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He's seen it all. In my opinion the achievements the Broncos are having on offence is mostly down to his guidance, his play-calling, his situational awareness – and the combination with Nix aids make him into who he is.
You wouldn't want a more qualified person in your ear, to assist you through some of the tougher situations and build confidence.
I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet are they good enough to go against an elite team at its best? Because that wasn't championship-level play by the Eagles in their last game.
Right now, I don't think the Broncos are elite. They're performing above average, that's a good place to hold their division. All they need to do to continue this trajectory.
They excel at leaning into their strength, which is the ground game, and this is exactly what they should do versus the Jets in London. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.
New York have surrendered 140 yards on the ground each contest (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (in the bottom ten), and they're the only team without a win any game.
Since the league began tracking turnovers decades ago, this team are also the inaugural squad to be without a single takeaway through five games, this is surprising when you think that their new coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator with another team.
Patrick Mahomes says Kansas City have 'already lost too many games' following a recent loss to Jacksonville.
After this Sunday's game, Denver face a smooth-ish schedule up to their bye (in week 12) - the Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans plus the Raiders before the Chiefs.
In their division, the Chiefs hold a losing record while Denver are even with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could make a run for the top of the West.
It depends on what version Kansas City shows up they face since the Broncos {beat|def
