Iranian Forces State Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Military Operations.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is unclear and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with notable success and shot down a several projectiles," it added.
It said wreckage fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
