Former Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Legal authorities have stated that a ex- doctor now faces charges for performing assaults against 38 victims who were patients.

The Grave Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous sexual offences – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

One deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Breakdown of Charges

Prosecutors said the 45 charges include:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
