Fast bowler Atkinson Compounds England's Fitness Worries.

'Significant concern' for the touring side as Atkinson goes off with a hamstring injury.

The English seamer increased the fitness woes of the England squad after leaving the ground on the second morning of the fourth Ashes Test versus the Australians.

Atkinson pulled up with his left leg post-delivery that he bowled during the morning session.

The touring camp reported Atkinson felt some "soreness" and would spend time off the field in order to be assessed "in the coming hours".

The concluding match of the tour beginning on 4 January gets underway on Sunday, 4 January.

England have been without fast bowlers one seamer with a knee problem and Jofra Archer to a side strain on the current trip.

A replacement bowler was added to the party to provide backup.

Atkinson struggled during the first two matches, managing only three wickets.

He was left out for the Adelaide match, before being recalled for the fourth Test as Archer's replacement.

Surrey's Atkinson performed better in the fourth Test, taking two wickets in Australia's first innings, before adding 28 with the bat being one of only three England players who passed ten runs.

After bowling one over in Australia's second innings, he resumed for the second day's play and had nightwatchman Scott Boland caught behind.

However, towards the conclusion of his spell, he delivered a change of pace to Travis Head and immediately felt at his leg.

The English bowler was brought back for the Boxing Day Test having missed the Adelaide game.
