Arne Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was expected for concerns to be raised about his position after a further convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in twelve matches, representing the team's poorest streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I've received a lot of backing from the top,” the coach commented.

“It's important to change things and earn three points obviously but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He added, “I accept my role. It is not the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the team officials, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they back me.”

He added, “During our regular discussions I sense the confidence. However I've not talked to them after this match yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Problems and Squad Reaction

Slot expressed regret over known shortcomings from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't have to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a period like this with results like these.”

He finished, “However we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is removed, we'll continue to compete.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to the top, prove again the values of this club and why it's known as the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it must improve.”
